Once an age-old remedy, the practice of Ear Candling is now making its resurgence in modern times. This treatment is used in India, China, Tibet, Egypt, Mayan, Aztec and American Indian cultures. It appears to have dated back to Lemuria and Atlantis. Sometimes referred to as Ear Coning, the method used varied considerably, but the desired results were always the same. The practice was used to cleanse the ear canal, but it is also believed to be a spiritual practice for clearing the mind and senses. It is further believed that Ear Candling performed on a regular basis will enhance meditation practices by heightening the sensitivity. Ear Candling is becoming more widely recognized among skilled practitioners. Today’s practitioners have continued the practice much like the Ancients. Candles have improved over the years to meet the ease and comfort of a client as well as the sanitary guidelines of modern day. Questions and Answers 1) What is ear candling and why do people benefit from it? 2) What should I expect during and after the Ear Candling session? If the person being candled has excessive hearing loss, they may feel more heat during the Ear Candling session since their feeling senses are keener then a good hearing person. It should not be uncomfortable. If it is, the Ear Candler, at your request, will stop the procedure and continue when you feel it is appropriate. After the Ear Candling session, you may feel lightness in your head and noises may seem to be louder. Putting a little ear oil on some cotton and inserting it in your ears can relieve this. You will find that your hearing has improved as most likely the blockage of wax is gone. You may find your sinuses are draining or the drainage has increased. This will relieve the pressure in your sinus area and sinus headaches should decrease. The senses of taste, smell and sight may also be increased. 3) How does it work? 4) Does it hurt? 5) How many candles are used in a session? 6) How long does it take? So the average session lasts about half an hour to 45 minutes, however, an hour is allotted in case a second candle is needed. 7) Who can benefit from Ear Candling? 8) Who should not be candled? 9) How often can a person be candled? 10) How do we know what it is that comes out of a candle?
