Some Benefits of Waxing
-
Hair takes longer to grow back.
-
Area stays softer and smoother longer.
-
No itching or stubble feeling
as the hairs are growing back.
-
Waxed hair becomes finer & sparser over time. Waxing
pulls hair out at the root, or papilla. Shaving shears hair in the middle at
its thickest point, so it grows back blunt & thick.
-
Waxing removes entire hair follicle. If kept up consistently
year-round, repeated waxing, may result in weakened
hair follicles so that many unwanted hairs no longer
grow back.
The
Definition of Our "Personal" Waxing Services
The terms can be confusing. But which one takes off how much?
Here are some descriptions to help you make a choice.
Bikini - $30
The standard bikini wax removes hair outside the bikini panty line only.
The Brazilian - $55
So named after the Brazilian women who
needed a barely-there bikini wax in order to sport their much-loved
itsy-bitsy thongs on the beach. This wax traditionally leaves a small
rectangle or 'landing strip' of hair two to three fingers in width
just above the vaginal area, though the latest trend is
for a neat triangle instead. Hair is not removed from the labia or peri-anal area. Hair is
removed from the tush.
The Playboy - $60
Named after Playboy magazine because that's what you see on the
models of Playboy. All hair is removed from the labia, all hair is removed from the tush,
including the peri-anal area, and only a very narrow strip is left in the
front.
The Sphinx - $65
This takes it one step further - an
everything-off wax. It's ALL taken off. Everywhere. Everything. Bald, leaving you totally bare down there!
Waxing dos and don'ts
-
Don't
be embarrassed – like your doctor, anyone
specializing in 'extreme' bikini or body waxing
has seen it all before (literally) and will do their best to put you at ease.
-
Ladies, don't book a wax just before or during your
period, as this is when you body is most sensitive and the ouch factor will be
at it's greatest.
-
Plan
on being waxed every six weeks, for best results. Sooner than six weeks
and hairs will not have had enough time to grow long.
-
Avoid
showering or soaking the hairs in water, for several hours before waxing.
Water softens the hair shafts, making them less likely to adhere inside
the wax. Tough hair is easier to wax off.
-
Do
not have any body lotions or oils applied to your skin on the day of
waxing.
-
Do exfoliate regularly after a
wax.
-
Do go prepared – if it's your
first wax, or you haven't been recently, you should trim your hairs to
about 2cm or less (but leave enough for the wax to hold on to). Ripping
out long hairs is guaranteed to give maximum pain.
-
Do relax – yes, easier said than done, but the more relaxed you are, the easier
it will be to pull the hair out.
-
Definitely give waxing a try! you will love the results and the few
seconds of discomfort will wash from your memory quickly!
