Massage

A Life's Little Pleasures massage will leave you refreshed, relaxed and renewed.

The basic premise of massage therapy is that it stimulates the muscle tissue & creates blood flow through key areas of the body.

Proper blood flow will help the muscles regenerate.  We all experience the benefits of massage therapy everyday. When you stub your toe, the quickest and best treatment is to rub it & stretch it to increase the blood flow.  We know instinctively that it will make it feel better.  The same principle applies to the entire body.  Massage therapy is of great value because professionals use certain strokes and techniques to relieve the pain and stress that we all experience.

Massage therapy will benefit everyone from the professional athlete to the casual exerciser.  There are a number of different techniques that have unique and distinct benefits.

Our professional therapists are trained to adapt each massage to your specific needs and preferences.

Do not underestimate the power of massage when it comes to pain! Massage can do wonders for problem area's like the back, as long as they are done consistently. If you have a regular massage therapist, be sure to advise them about your problem areas and get regular massages.  A soft firm touch is best required for chronic pain.

Massage therapy is a science & an art.

All Life's Little Pleasures' massages are performed by Knead for Life Licensed Massage Therapists.

Maternity massage benefits mom and developing baby as well!

Mothers-to-be enjoy a pampering and peaceful treatment during this time of bodily change. It's also the natural and safe alternative for relieving headaches, alleviating nausea and morning sickness and easing sinus congestion. It diminishes backaches, leg cramps and sciatic pain while soothing swollen legs and increasing flexibility making it easier for the body to adjust to carrying additional weight. Massage therapy can also relieve fatigue, enhance sleep and calm an active baby. It's the best for a healthy baby and an enjoyable pregnancy with the benefits of increased energy and relief of discomfort.

LLP now features a customized PREGNANCY PILLOW for the added comfort of mom-to-be. Expecting mothers can now lie safely and comfortably on their stomachs and backs into the later stages of pregnancy.

It is recommended to wait until completing your first trimester before beginning massage therapy with a trained pregnancy massage therapist. Women with normal, low risk pregnancies can benefit greatly from massage. However, women in high-risk pregnancies should consult with their doctor or midwife before beginning a massage therapy program. We request a written permission note from your doctor in high-risk pregnancy cases.

Sports Massage
Anyone engaged in athletic activity can benefit from this body work before or after training. As a pre-event session, this vigorous treatment can enhance circulation and flexibility. Post event massage can prevent soren
ess and relieve muscle spasms.

Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger points are tender areas usually found in tight muscles. They may radiate, or refer, pain to other areas of the body. They can also cause muscle weakness or restricted range of motion. Trigger points can result from a number of causes, including direct trauma, exposure to cold, and overuse of a muscle group. Neuromuscular massage is a manual system of working with trigger points.

Lymphatic Drainage
The lymphatic system is essential as the body's drainage system for cleansing and filtering out of bacteria and toxins. Congested lymph pathways can cause soreness, aches, pains and flu-like symptoms. Lymphatic massage helps to unclog the lymph system. Beginning in a clockwise motion on the body, the lymph system is manually cleansed. Best performed in a series of six, or as part of a full detoxification program, this form of massage helps the body to heal itself from many common maladies. As with most massage, it is vital to drink lots of water after a lymphatic massage.

Reflexology
Reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the hands, feet and ears that correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes, reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation and promotes the natural function of the related areas of the body.  If requested this is worked into our standard massage services.

Can Reflexology be considered a medical treatment?
Although Reflexology does not diagnose or treat specific ailments by definition, it has proven highly successful over time to relieve symptoms or ease pain or discomfort that have manifested themselves physically in the body - either as a result of stress, trauma or disease. If you are currently under a physician's advisement, consult them before any treatment is considered.  Reflexology helps balance the systems of the body by assisting the immune system and helping it work more efficiently which, in turn, speeds up the healing process.

 Special Note to Cancer Patients
We welcome the opportunity to help relieve the stress you are currently undergoing through massage therapy.  Please note that we will need a note signed by your oncologist okaying your receipt of massage therapy, in addition to filling out the appropriate LLP paperwork.
